The town is pre-dominantly agricultural town. There is vast scope for the Development of industrial acuities, as excellent transportation facility by road is available. At present there are ginning & pressing factories. Saw mills, oil mills.

TRADE AND COMMERCE

Yavatmal being a head quarter of district is also a commercial center of district. The town is not a leading center in any particular trade. It has grain, cotton and orange market situated at dhamangaon road and dutta chowk respectively.

A large vegetable market and cotton market is held on Sundays.

However Yavatmal now depends chiefly on its trade in raw cotton. There are four ginning factories. Number of carts to grain & cotton come in the town from the surrounding areas.
